Moving is one of the top stressors in life and this is true for your pets too. A little advanced planning can help your pet adapt to the change much easier. Here are some wonderful methods to help your pet during a move:

Review your pets rewards list or better yet create a new one with your pets most prized rewards and put them in order from 1 to 10. Number one is the all-time jackpot that you use for big rewards there so they’re very significant and notable. Post on the fridge make sure everybody knows about it, household talk about it at dinner and when you are moving get that up on the fridge right away and pick those big rewards and praise identifying the wonderful behavior even if it’s kind of spotty because you get what you focus on.

Communicate with your pet, tell them what’s happening when it’s happening like in five days a bunch of people are going to come over and pack up our house into boxes and on day six a big truck and people are going to come and collect all of our stuff and we’re moving to another house and we’re all going together to our new home. Add a trip going to take a walk in the new neighborhood or a drive over there in advance so that you can see it and we can show it to you if that’s possible. Communicate tomorrow we’re going to be in our new home and your dog bed will be right next to mine, just like now, and it’s wonderful!
